So 20 years ago to the day, we opened our doors with eager expectations & our Sunday ride began. Who would have thought all this time later we would still be leading a ride out on a Sunday. The rain had abated from the dreary drizzle from the day before & the sun made an appearance every now & then. It was inevitable that we would get muddy but with Simon leading the ride & drawing on 20 years of experience, this was kept to a minimum with a well chosen route. It did have a bit of everything with thrills & spills coming from a newcomer to the ride, Marek Madjek, who decided to jump 'Recovery kit' at warp speed 10 & thus completely out jumping the landing slope. After the inevitable crash he popped up like a duracell bunny & carried on. A video of his mishap can be seen on our facebook page. For the correct technique check out 'Shagpile' Simon in the video below. Who was well stoked to have done it for the first time. Team leader Simon also had a tumble on 'Jamaican Funk' unfortunately not captured on video, but we do have a small glimpse of the guys wiggling their way through the undergrowth. The day was topped off by an anniversary drink at the excellent Star pub in Dorking. Here's to the next 20!
